… many hidden gems …
The Garden Route tours take place along the Cape coast from Cape Town in the south west to Port Elizabeth in the south east. It is called the Garden Route because of its abundant plant life and green forests. Nearly 300 species of bird are found in a diversity of habitats ranging from lagoons to ocean, fynbos to forest, from mountains to wetlands. A variety of nature reserves embrace the varied ecosystems of the area including unique marine reserves that are home to soft coral reefs and an abundance of ocean life. Whales, dolphins, seals and a host of other marine animals are found in the surrounding Indian Ocean. Various bays along the Garden Route become nurseries for the endangered Southern Right and Humpback Whales which come here to calve in the winter and spring.
