Day by Day Itinerary for 5 Day Garden Route Tour

Day 1:   Cape Town to Garden Route

We pick you up from the airport, your hotel or other pre-arranged location in and around Cape Town. We travel in comfortable vehicle and head toward the Breede River Valley. Along this scenic route you will enjoy an impressive landscape the changes from dramatic mountain views to lush orchards. We stop a one the renowned cellars for tasty treats.

We then continue along route 62 towards the Little Karoo and Oudtshoorn. This impressive town is the main hub of the Little Karoo and is well known for Ostrich farming*. We stop for lunch at one of the top restaurants in the area where you will enjoy delectable South African cuisine. (own account). After lunch we head to a private game reserve where you can enjoy and afternoon game drive. Overnight in 4 star accommodation. Dinner (own account).

Day 2: Little Karoo to Garden Route

We start the day with an early morning game drive followed by a delicious breakfast buffet (included).  After breakfast you will visit one the world’s great natural wonders –the impressive Cango Caves. After the caves, we visit an ostrich farm* which is sure to be a memorable experience.

Lunch will be at an exclusive award winning restaurant. (own account). After lunch we leave the little Karoo behind and head towards the Garden Route. This scenic route takes us over the awe-inspiring Outeniqua Mountain pass and to the quaint seaside village of Wilderness. After that we make our way to the world-renown town of Knysna. We will overnight in 4 star accommodation in Knysna. Dinner (own account).

Day 3: Garden Route (Wilderness, Knysna, Plettenberg Bay)

After a scrumptious breakfast you can  enjoy a boat / ferry ride and visit a to a private nature reserve. During season a whale watching boat trip is also possible. We have lunch at the popular Knysna waterfront. Afterwards you can enjoy some free leisure time exploring various boutiques as well as curio and souvenir shops that are dotted around the water front. After a visit to the viewing point overlooking the spectacular Knysna Heads we make our way to the popular coastal resort town of Plettenberg Bay (affectionately known as Plett).

Day 4: Garden Route (Plett)

After a hearty breakfast we visit a wildlife awareness center where you will become acquainted with the furry five namely the black-footed cats, African wild cats, Caracal, Serval and Cheetah – all living in a semi-natural environment. Next we will either visit the multi-species free-roaming primate sanctuary or the Birds of Eden (the largest free flight bird aviary in the world).

Lunch will be at a well-known restaurant or estate in the area. Afternoon leisure time which can include optional activities such as a rejuvenating massage, reflexology or aromatherapy treatment. We return to Knysna. Overnight in 4 star accommodation.

Day 5:  Garden Route (Plett, Bloukrans, Tsitsikamma, Port Elizabeth)

After breakfast we drive to Bloukrans where you can enjoy the breathtaking scenery. There are a number of optional activities o offer. Here you will see the World’s Highest Commercial Bungee Jump – a nerve racking 216 m high! If you are brave enough you will have the opportunity to experience an adrenalin packed bungee jump. Bridge swings are also on offer.

In the Tsitsikamma Nature Reserve you can enjoy an optional boat trip on Storms River into the strikingly beautiful Gorge. Enjoy a walk through the Tsitsikamma forest and the suspension bridge followed by lunch (own account) in the Tsitsikamma Nature Reserve We drive to Port Elizabeth where you can be transferred to Port Elizabeth Airport to catch a flight home. If you would like to stay longer in the Garden Route or take a return drive to Cape Town with us, we will be happy to extend your tour subject to availability.
