Day by Day Itinerary for 7 Day Vic Falls and Chobe Safari

Day 1: Depart from South Africa to Botswana

(Johannesburg to Khama Rhino Rest Camp: Distance 620 km)

We make an early morning departure from Johannesburg & Pretoria.Comfort stops en-route.. Driving through the Waterberg area we head for the Botswana border.

After our border crossing you will have the opportunity to exchange currencies. Then we head north to the Khama Rhino Sanctuary. This is a community based wild life project that endeavors to protect the endangered Rhinoceros as well as other species. The project is also of economic benefit to the local community through tourism and sustainable land use. The camp is set beautifully under large Manketti trees and is impeccably maintained.

You will enjoy a late afternoon game drive.

Overnight in Lodge near Serowe (either Khama or Masama)

Day 2: We spend time in the Chobe National Park (Botswana)

(Khama Rhino Rest Camp to Chobe NP in Kasane: Distance 700 km)

We travel further north through the Kasane forest where you will likely see herds of elephants, rare antelopes and occasionally lion, hyena and wild dog. We should arrive at Kasane around mid-afternoon where we check in at our accommodation. This will be our gateway to the Chobe National Park.

You will have some time chill out and relax.  In the late afternoon we will go on an exciting sunset river safari that will take you into Chobe National Park and its rich and abundant wildlife.

Day 3:  Magnificent Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe

(Chobe NP to Victoria Falls: Distance 87 km)

We start with and early morning coffee or tea and biscuits followed by a riveting game drive into the Chobe National Park. After our game drive we enjoy a hearty breakfast.

We then depart for Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. It is a short drive to the border and your hotel in Victoria Falls.  On arrival at our lodge you can exchange money and book optional extra activities. Thereafter we head off to the amazing Victoria Falls which is one of the seven natural wonders of the world. The waterfall is 1700 meters (1.1 mile) wide, of which 1300 meters is on the Zimbabwean side, including the main falls.

Late afternoon we will do a sunset dinner cruise on the 4th largest river in Africa (the Zambezi River), which has national parks on both the Zambian and Zimbabwean sides. All soft drinks, wine, beer and dinner are included in the cruise.

Day 4:  Magnificent Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe

After breakfast you will have plenty of free time whilst in Victoria Falls to explore the town, meet the locals, visit the African arts and craft markets, relax by the pool in the heat of the day, and to take part in some of the many optional activities on offer here.

Day 5: Elephant sands in Botswana

(Victoria Falls to Elephant Sands in Nata: Distance 320km)

After breakfast we leave the Vic Falls behind and make our way over the border and back into Botswana. We head south towards Nata and the Elephant Sands rest camp. Do expect to see elephants at the waterhole and around the camp site.

Day 6: Overnight close to the border

(Nata to  South Africa Border (Martins Drift):  Distance 450 km)

After breakfast we depart and make our way to  the South African border. We will spend the last night of our tour at Buffalo Thorn.

Day 7: Return to Johannesburg, South Africa

(Martins Drift to Johannesburg: Distance 595 km)

After breakfast we will make our way back to Johannesburg /  Pretoria. Drop off early afternoon by arrangement. The tour officially end here.
