Day by Day Itinerary for Kruger Budget Safari

Day 1: Johannesburg to Kruger

This Kruger budget safari departs daily from Johannesburg OR Tambo airport. You need to be at the OR Tambo bus terminal by 6.45 am.  We will send you full instructions when you book your safari. The shuttle departs no later than 7 am.

You travel East passing picturesque landscapes and farmlands on route to our lodge near Kruger. There are two 15 minute comfort stops en route. You will also be able to buy snacks and refreshments during these comfort stops. ETA in Hazyview is around 1 pm. The lodge driver will meet you at the drop off point and transfer you to the lodge. This is a quick 5 – 10 minute drive.

After check in you will have time to relax and freshen up before boarding an open sided landcruiser for an exciting 2 – 2.5 hour late afternoon game drive in Kruger National Park. The lodge is about 15 – 20  minutes drive from the Phabeni Kruger Gate.

After your safari game drive you return to the lodge where you can unwind, have drinks and relax.

Dinner & Overnight.

Day 2: Full day game drive in Kruger

This morning you will enjoy coffee/tea and rusks before departing on a full day of game viewing in the Kruger National Park (Skukuza area). A Packed breakfast is included.  Game drives are in small groups in specially modified open sided land cruisers.

The Skukuza area is rich in wildlife and the elevated height of the 4×4 open sided vehicle makes for excellent viewing and photographic opportunities. You’ll enjoy lunch at one of the park’s restaurants.  (own account). After lunch we will start the afternoon game drive in the Kruger National Park.

During these game drives, you’ll see a wide variety of wildlife and have plenty of photographic opportunities. After our tour, we’ll make our way back to our lodge or camp.

Dinner & Overnight.

Day 3: Panorama route

Today you will go on a tour of the Panorama Route. You depart on this 8 hour scenic excursion just after a scrumptious full course breakfast. Scenic stops along the Panorama Route include

• God’s Window
• The Pinnacle
• Bourke’s Luck Potholes
• Blyde River Canyon
• Wonderview
• Three Rondavels
• Graskop & Pilgrim’s Rest
• At least 1 of the following waterfalls: Lisbon Falls, Mac-Mac Falls, Lone creek Falls. (Depends on time of year and rainfall)
• Lunch at Harries pancakes at your own cost.

Day 4: Sabi Sands

This morning you can  enjoy a hearty breakfast at the lodge.

After breakfast you will depart on a half day private game drive in Kruger Park.

Around 3 pm you will be dropped off at the iconic Sabi Sands Game Reserve.

Sabi Sands game reserve for a fantastic sunset and night safari.

Please note safari activities in Sabi Sands are subject to availability and must be booked in advance. If we don't have availability in Sabi Sands we will replace it with a full day private game drive in Kruger. 

After your Sabi Sands adventure you will return to the Kruger Lodge where you can enjoy some drinks before bedtime.

Day 5: Drop off in Johannesburg

This is the last day of your African Kruger budget safari. This morning you have an option of a final morning game drive in Kruger Park. (This is optional and for your own account).  Alternatively you relax at the lodge and enjoy a late breakfast.

Around 12 noon you depart for Johannesburg.  Comfort stops on the way. Drop off at Johannesburg by arrangement. Drop off time between 5 pm and 6 pm.
