3 Day Kruger Budget Safari

If you want an affordable way to see what our truly beautiful country has to offer this might just be the package for you. The 3 day Kruger Safari allows you to see the beautiful scenic parts of Mpumalanga, stunning parts of South Africa and diverse wildlife while staying in comfort.

Day 1

We departed from Johannesburg to Kruger Adventure Lodge, while some might not look forward to a long drive you cannot complain about driving through such scenic parts of South Africa. The weather was amazing which just made the views that much better.

We stopped for lunch at Alzu Petroport which really does have something for everyone. Sitting and eating lunch, using the bathroom and stretching your legs is so much better while you watch buffalo and rhino in front of you.

After arriving and being welcomed by the amazing staff at Kruger Adventure lodge we departed for our late afternoon game drive. We entered The Kruger National Park at the Phabeni Gate and it was amazing to drive through the park with our very informative guide and make some really nice sightings. We were lucky enough to see multiple bucks, a herd of elephants, a baby giraffe and a cackle of baby hyena.

After getting back to the lodge we got to make use of the beautiful dinning hall and bar at the lodge while being looked after by the friendly and helpful staff. What a wonderful way to end a day.

Day 2

An early rise can sometimes be dreaded but not when you’re getting to go see parts of one of the largest game reserves in Africa. We headed out of the lodge and entered the park at The Paul Kruger Gate. After some amazing sightings it was time to have a breakfast stop, we stopped at Afsaal Picnic Site. A lovely little stop with a cute gift shop. It was an amazing day in the park with some awesome sightings, the highlight being two male lions relaxing under a tree to keep cool on this hot summer’s day. We then stopped for lunch at Skukuza, it is the capital of the Kruger National Park. It is the biggest camp and has many amazing facilities for a lunch stop. The restaurant was amazing and exactly what was needed after a game drive.

We got back to the lodge and had some personal time before supper, while eating dinner we were treated to a wonderful local Shangaan culture who performed a traditional dance during dinner.

Myself and a few other guests decided to go on the optional night safari which I cannot recommend enough. The experience was phenomenal, just being in the park at night was an experience which cannot be described. Our guide was amazing and really created an unforgettable experience for us all.

Day 3

After a tasty breakfast and a goodbye to the friendly staff at Kruger Adventure Lodge we departed back to Johannesburg via The Panorama Route. I’m not sure there is a more apt way to describe it but breathtaking.

We had four stops along our way home, our first was God’s Window which really does live up to its name. The views are more than you could ever imagine and a definite must see.

We then made our way to Bourke’s Luck Potholes which essentially are the result of decades of erosion which has created a series of cylindrical rock sculptures that are extremely beautiful.

Our third stop was the Three Rondavels, they are three round mountain tops with slightly pointed tops, very similar to the traditional round or oval African homesteads made with local materials called rondavels. It was a beautiful view and amazing to see this iconic part of South Africa.

The final stop was the Blyde River Canyon which is the third largest canyon in the world. I was always under the assumption that a canyon was very rocky and arid but not this one, this “green” canyon was beautiful with its subtropical covering.

After seeing all that beauty it was unfortunately time to head home.
