Kruger Group Tour – Franklin University Students
Kruger Adventure Lodge – a home away from home – Day 3 & 4
After our scenic experiences along the Panorama Route, we continued our road trip towards Hazyview where we checked in at Kruger Adventure Lodge. This would be our home for the next two days. This beautiful and comfortable lodge is located in Hazyview, only 15 minutes’ drive from the Phabeni Kruger Gate. Here the group enjoyed a delicious dinner as well as entertainment provided by African dancers and actors. Beating of drums, rhythmic dancing and a circle of fire sure make for spine tingling entertainment. After a long day filled with excitements it was time for a good night’s sleep.
The next day the group enjoyed open vehicle game drives in the Kruger National Park.
A bit more about the Kruger National Park
The Kruger National Park is the largest wildlife park in South Africa and covers about 19,485m² of ground differentiating between mountains, bush plains and tropical ground. It is not only home to the Big 5 which is the leopard, elephant, lion, rhino and buffalo, but also to hundreds of other mammals, bird species, reptiles, amphibians and fish. An interesting fact is that there are about 254 known cultural heritage sites in the Kruger National Park, including about 125 recorded rock art sites.
A visit to the Kruger National Park is truly one of the top 10 on many a traveler’s bucket list.
We entered the Kruger Park through the Phabeni gate from Hazyview. As we crossed the Phabeni stream we already experienced good sightings. Phabeni was a Swazi chief who named the stream after himself. You often find a lot of game in the vicinity of the Phabeni stream. The Skuluza area itself is rich in general in general game which in turn attract the predators.
Our guests were delighted and thrilled to see so many wild animals in a natural setting.
Game drives in Kruger National Park is something that should be on every ones’s bucket list. The elevated height of an open sided game viewer makes for enhanced viewing and sightings. You never know what is around the next corner. Maybe a herd of elephants, or buffalo or a pride of lions, or animals around a drinking hole.
Apart from the BIG 5 there are so many other animals to see. These include general game, hippo, bird life and much more.
After their Kruger experience it was time to move on. The Kingdom here we come.
