Day by Day Itinerary for 5 Day Botswana Semi Luxury Safari

Day 1: Maun to Safari Camp

Pick up time may vary according to your schedule.

You will be picked up from the airport  at any hotel in the Maun area.  Your guide will the transfer you to a semi-luxury tented camp situated on the banks of the Boteti river.  The camp is not far from Maun and on the fringes of the Delta.

After check-in your ranger will brief you on the exciting activities that lie ahead. You will have some time to explore the camp and absorb the magnificent surroundings.

As the sun begins its descent in the late afternoon, guests of Boteti Tented Safari Lodge will set off on an enriching journey to Xobe Village. This excursion offers a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the vibrant culture and daily life of Botswana.

Departing from the lodge, guests will traverse through the picturesque landscapes that surround the area. The scenic drive to Xobe Village presents a visual feast, with the changing light casting a warm glow over the terrain. Upon arrival, guests will be warmly welcomed with a short traditional dance performance, adding an authentic touch to the cultural experience.

The visit to Xobe Village provides guests with a chance to explore traditional architecture and engage with local artisans. The opportunity to witness their craftsmanship and hear the stories behind their work adds depth to the experience. Guests can also purchase traditionally made arts, crafts, and clothing from the community, contributing to local commerce and supporting the village's economic growth. Donations to the community are also most welcomed and appreciated.

This combination of cultural exploration and scenic relaxation offers a memorable introduction to Motswana culture and serves as a perfect prelude to the exciting safaris that await.

As the evening draws to a close, guests will return to Boteti Tented Safari Lodge, enriched by their experiences and the beauty of the day.

Day 2: Mokoro safari and Bush Walk

Wake up at sunrise to the first birdcalls of the day. Enjoy the crisp morning air as you greet the new day in the wild.  Freshly brewed coffee (or tea or juice) and biscuits will be served before you depart on an exhilarating mokoro excursion in the Okavango Delta. Packed break fast is provided. 

You will learn interesting aspects of this abundant ecosystem, while exploring channels and islands. At the same time you will have opportunities to spot wildlife including an abundance of bird life.

We stop on  one of the many islands to enjoy a packed lunch or picnic. 

After lunch you will embark on an exciting nature walk with an armed ranger, who will explain and interpret the this wildlife paradise in a unique and educational manner.

After a full day of safari adventures you return to camp for evening activities and overnight.

Day 3:  Full Moremi Safari

At the crack of dawn you will awake to the calls of the wild. As you step out of your tent you will be greeted by friendly faces and a freshly brewed cup of tea or coffee! You will then embark on a full day of safari activities in the Moremi and Khwai game reserves.  Packed breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Moremi is the only proclaimed wildlife reserve in the Okavango Delta. Moremi  together with its spectacular Khwai area is home to the most diverse habitat and animal populations in Botswana. The Moremi / Khwai combination are widely regarded as the most beautiful and fascinating wild life areas in the Delta. 

The reserve occupies about a quarter of the Okavango Delta and stretches across several thousand square kilometres, comprising a magical landscape of forests, lagoons, floodplains and islands.

Game viewing is excellent year-round and resident species include lion, cheetah, leopard, elephant, African wild dog, zebra, red lechwe and many more.

Day 4: Flight over Delta

Enjoy a hearty breakfast before a thrilling scenic helicopter flight over the Okavango Delta. This is truly a one in a life time experience. After your scenic flight enjoy a picnic before returning to camp. You will have time to relax  at the lodge.

In the evening we all gather around the camp fire for socializing and dinner.

Day 5: Maun Drop off

Enjoy a hearty breakfast before departing for Maun. Drop off by arrangement.

Sadly this is the end of your beautiful safari. But you will have unforgettable memories to share.
