Day by Day Itinerary for 11 Day Kruger Park and Botswana - Vic Falls Safari

Day 1: Depart from Johnnesburg to Kruger Park

We’ll either pick you up from your hotel/guesthouse in or from  Johannesburg Airport. We’ll then travel east via farmlands to the picturesque low veld towards Kruger National Park. On the way we stop for lunch in the quaint town of Dullstroom. After lunch we continue our journey to our camp in the Kruger - Manyeleti Game Reserve.

After a short relaxing break, we’ll board the open landcruiser for a 3 hour sunset wild life game drive and night safari. Your guide will show you various animals and birds and after darkness falls we use spotlights to locate nocturnal species.

Later relax around the camp fire before enjoying a full course dinner.

You stay overnight in a comfortable air-conditioned en-suite chalet.

Day 2: Kruger - Manyeleti

Awaken at sunrise for an exhilarating day in the bush! After early morning coffee and biscuits you will go an an exciting sunrise game drive.

We’ll return to camp for brunch. After breakfast you will have time to explore the camp, relax and enjoy the bush experience.

In the afternoon you will go an another exciting sunset and night safari.

Dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Bush walk - Panorama Route

This morning you have the option of a riveting bush walk with armed ranger. After your bush walk we depart on a scenic tour of the Panorama Route.

One of the Falls, God's Window, Potholes and Blyde River Canyon

The Blyde River Canyon is the 3rd largest Canyon in the world and you will have time to take photos from various viewing points.

We enjoy lunch in in the bustling town of Graskop.

Return to camp. Dinner and overnight

Day 4:  Kruger to Buffalo Thorn

This morning you will enjoy a sunrise game drive in the Manyeleti Reserve.

After breakfast we depart Manyeleti and towards the Botswana border.

Late afternoon we check in at Buffalo Thorn, close to the Botswana border.

Dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Botswana  – Khama Rhino

This morning you can sleep in late. After a late breakfast we  travel to the Botswana border. After border formalities your Botswana guide will meet you and guide you on your journey through Botswana.

After our border crossing you will have the opportunity to exchange currencies. Then we head north to the Khama Rhino Sanctuary. This is a community based wild life project that endeavors to protect the endangered Rhinoceros as well as other species. The project is also of economic benefit to the local community through tourism and sustainable land use. The camp is set beautifully under large Manketti trees and is impeccably maintained.

You will enjoy a late afternoon game drive.

Dinner and overnight in one of the lodges in the area.

Day 6: Khama Rhino to Kasane

(Khama Rhino Rest Camp to Chobe NP in Kasane: Distance 700 km)

We travel further north through the Kasane forest where you will see herds of elephants, rare antelopes and often lion, hyena and wild dog. We should arrive at Kasane around mid-afternoon where we check in at a a local lodge. This will be our gateway to the Chobe National Park. You will have some time to chill out and relax.

You will see a variety of wild life and bird species. There is also a good chance to see elephant, buffalo and hippo.  In the late afternoon we will go on an exciting sunset river safari that will take you into Chobe National Park which is rich in wildlife.

Overnight in lodge.

Day 7: Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe

Enjoy and early morning game drive in Chobe National Park. After breakfast we depart and make our way towards the Zimbabwe border post. After border formalities  we drive another hour to the vibrant town of Victoria Falls where we will be spending the next two nights.

Later in the afternoon you enjoy a memorable sunset dinner cruise on the beautiful Zambezi River. The Zambezi is the 4th largest river in the world and forms a natural border between Zimbabwe and Zambia. You will have a great opportunity to see animals coming down to the river for a drink, a We often see elephants, zebra, blue wildebeest, rhino, buffalo and a variety of antelope species. Hippo, crocodile and bird life are abundant in this region. All soft drinks, wine, beer, food and snacks  are included in the river cruise.

Day 8: Victoria Falls

 

After breakfast you will go on a guided tour of the Falls.

Victoria Falls  is one of the seven natural wonders of the world. The Falls are 1700 meters (1.1 miles) wide, making it the largest sheet of falling water in the world. The best view of the falls is from the Zimbabwe side.

The rest of the day you are free  to spend your time as you please. Victoria Falls and the surrounding areas offer a great variety of things to see and do. You will have plenty of time to explore the town, meet the locals, visit the African markets with their wide variety of very affordable arts and crafts made from wood, stone and beads. Or you could simply relax by the pool and chill out in the heat of the day.

The Victoria Falls region is nicknamed the adventure capital of Africa for a reason. It is well known for its large variety of fantastic activities such as the best one day white water rafting in the world, the 111 meter bungi jump off the bridge between Zimbabwe and Zambia,  horse safaris, flights over the waterfall, canoe safaris, day trips to Hwange national park, fishing safaris, game walks, super fast jet boat trips, abseiling, gorge swings and much more.

In the evening you enjoy a Boma dinner.

Day 9: Elephant Sands in Botswana

(Victoria Falls to Elephant Sands in Nata: Distance 320km)

After breakfast we leave the  Falls behind and make our way over the border and back into Botswana. We head south towards Nata and the Elephant Sands rest camp. Do expect to see elephants at the waterhole and around the camp site. Dinner and overnight.

Day 10:  Overnight close to the border

(Nata to  South Africa Border (Martins Drift):  Distance 450 km)

After breakfast we depart and make our way to a location close to the South African border. We will spend the last night of our tour in a lodge / camp. In the evening we will enjoy our last dinner together.

Day 11: Return to Johannesburg, South Africa

After breakfast we head back to Johannesburg, South Africa. Drop off by arrangement. End of tour.
